ODI World Cup 2023 likely to start on October 5 and end on November 19.

New Delhi:The World Cup 2023 to be played in India will start from 5 October. At the same time, the final match of the tournament will be played on 19 November. Team India, the winner of 1983 and 2011, has a great chance to become the champion once again. India last had the distinction of being world champions at the Wankhede Stadium in 2011. Captain Rohit Sharma will be seen captaining Team India in the World Cup 2023, so he will have a chance to overcome the disappointment of the T20 World Cup. Under Rohit’s captaincy, India made it to the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup last year, while India’s journey in the ODI World Cup 2019 also ended in the semi-finals.
BCCI has shortlisted around a dozen places to host.
The final of the ODI World Cup 2023 is to be hosted by the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad while the other shortlisted cities are Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai. In the tournament, 48 matches will be played over a period of 46 days.
Usually, the ICC announces the World Cup schedule a year in advance, but this time it is waiting for the BCCI to get the necessary approval from the Indian government. There are two major issues involved: obtaining tax exemption for the tournament and visa clearance for Pakistan. Let us tell you that apart from ICC events, Pakistan has not played any match in India since 2013.
