Odisha: Fire breaks out in AC coach of Durg-Puri Express near Khariar Road Station in Odisha

East Coast Railway said smoke was detected in B3 coach of Durg-Puri Express at Khariar Road station on Thursday evening. The problem was rectified in less than an hour and the train left the station at 11 pm.

Naupada: After the horrific train accident in Odisha, now there has been an incident of fire in the train. A fire broke out in an AC coach of the Durg-Puri Express in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Thursday, East Coast Railway officials said. No casualties have been reported in this incident. However, the incident created panic among the passengers and more passengers came out of the train.

In a statement issued by the Railways, it has been said that smoke was seen rising from the B-3 coach of the train parked at Khariar Road station. Due to this the passengers got scared and got out of the train. Railways said that due to friction and incomplete release of brakes, the brake pads caught fire. But the fire was confined to the brake pads, no damage was done. The glitch was rectified within an hour and the train was dispatched around 11 pm.

Significantly, on June 2, a massive train accident took place near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district when three trains collided, in which 288 people died. This incident shook the whole country. After this, the government has started the exercise to further strengthen the railway security.
