PM Modi names 21 largest island in Andaman and Nicobar after 21 Indian heroes. PM Modi also unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, earlier known as Ross Islands.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the memorial model dedicated to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Andaman-Nicobar Islands on his birth anniversary. During this, PM Modi also named 21 islands in Andaman and Nicobar through video conferencing. These islands were named after 21 Param Vir Chakra winners. These heroes include names like Vikram Batra, Abdul Hameed. PM Modi said that the country is remembering the leader every moment. On the naming of the Andaman Islands, the PM said that earlier there was a mark of slavery on these islands.
With this, the PM said that by naming the islands after Paramveer Chakra winners today, they will become places of inspiration for generations to come. There was a demand to make public the confidential documents related to Netaji, we did it. Netaji’s memorial in the Andaman-Nicobar Islands will infuse a sense of patriotism in the hearts of the people.
People are now going to Andaman to know about our (freedom struggle) history. From Delhi and Bengal to Andaman-Nicobar Islands, the whole country is paying tribute to Netaji, saving the legacy associated with him.
Since independence, our army had to fight wars, everywhere our army showed its bravery. The country is being given a new identity in the name of army and jawans. Andaman is such a land where water, nature, environment, effort and inspiration are everything.
PM Modi said that the 21st century is a witness to the change that how Netaji, who was forgotten, is being remembered today every moment. He said that the works related to Subhas Chandra, which have been done in the last 8-9 years, should have been done in the years following India’s independence.

On the naming of the islands of Andaman and Nicobar, he said, “The 21 Paramveer Chakra winners, by whose name these islands of Andaman-Nicobar will now be known, considered every part of the motherland as their everything.”
