Kurung Kumey: Several labourers near the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district have been missing for the last 14 days. They were engaged in road construction work. As reported among them, a labourer was killed and 18 were traceless.
All the 19 missing labourers have not been seen on the project site since July 5. Meanwhile, the body of one labourer was discovered in a nearby village.

Bengia Nighee, deputy commissioner of Kurung Kumey district, said over the phone that the body of one labourer was found in a small river named Furak River under Damin Circle on Monday.
“A police team and the circle officer of Damin have been pressed on duty towards the site this morning to keep eyes on the situation.” The Damin circle area is located along the India-China border.
“Most of the missing labourers belong to the Muslim community, and it is expected that they might have left the site on July 5 to celebrate Eid with their families,” Nighee said.
The deputy commissioner of Kurung Kumey district further said that the information regarding the missing labourers was received from the contractor of the road project.
He also revealed that an inquiry regarding the matter has been ordered to learn the entire matter.
