Operation Kaveri: Plane carrying 360 Indians rescued from Sudan lands in Delhi

New Delhi: The flight carrying 360 Indians from Jeddah reached Delhi's IGI Airport on Wednesday night. Earlier, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan had informed that the plane had departed from Jeddah after departing from Jeddah. They will be able to meet their relatives soon.

New Delhi: The flight carrying 360 Indians from Jeddah reached Delhi’s IGI Airport on Wednesday night. Earlier, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan had informed that the plane had departed from Jeddah after departing from Jeddah. They will be able to meet their relatives soon.

At the same time, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also tweeted that India welcomes the return of its own people. 360 Indian citizens were brought home under Operation Kaveri. The first flight reached New Delhi.

The government is running a rescue operation with the help of the Indian Army to evacuate Indian citizens from the civil war in Sudan. Regarding this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had informed on Monday (April 24) that Operation Cauvery has been started by the government to evacuate the Indian citizens trapped in the war. Now under this the flight has reached Delhi with 360 passengers.

10 people from Uttarakhand were also brought back in the flight to India on Wednesday night. On reaching New Delhi, these 10 people were received by Uttarakhand Local Commissioner Shri Ajay Mishra and Assistant Protocol Officer Shri Amar Bisht. It includes Sunil Singh, Vinod Negi, Praveen Negi, Anil Kumar, Sheeshpal Singh, Ankit Bisht, Juned Tyagi, Juned Ali, Inayat Tyagi and Salma Tyagi.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Shri S Jaishankar and said that the government is committed to bring back Indian citizens stranded in Sudan. The state government is constantly in touch with the central government.

State-wise details of passengers coming to India from Sudan via Saudi Arabia have been given. It has 3 from Assam, 98 from Bihar, 1 from Chhattisgarh, 3 from Delhi, 24 from Haryana, 22 from Himachal Pradesh, 6 from Jharkhand, 4 from Madhya Pradesh, 15 from Odisha, 22 from Punjab, 36 from Rajasthan, 36 from Uttar Pradesh 116 passengers include 10 from Uttarakhand and 2 from West Bengal.

An Indian citizen returning from Sudan said, “The Indian government supported us a lot. It’s a big thing that we reached here safely because it was very dangerous. I thank PM Modi and the Indian government.” Apart from this, a citizen named Bharat said, “I am grateful to the Government of India. Saudi Arabia has also done a good job. I salute PM Narendra Modi and Dr S Jaishankar for the good arrangement.”

There are about 3,000 Indians in Sudan. The security situation in Sudan remains unstable due to reports of fierce fighting from many places in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. More than 400 people have lost their lives here in the last 10 days of fierce fighting between the army and a paramilitary group.

In a high-level meeting on Friday (April 21), Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave instructions to prepare plans for the safe evacuation of Indians from Sudan. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had recently discussed the situation in Sudan with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
