Los Angeles: Demonstrations of Palestine supporters continue in various college campuses of America. Meanwhile, the police have arrested more than 2100 people involved in the protest. Along with this, the tents set up in the premises and the buildings occupied by the protesters were evacuated. An officer also opened fire to disperse protesters gathered inside a Columbia University administration building, the prosecutor’s office confirmed.

The officer-involved shooting took place late Tuesday night inside Hamilton Hall on Columbia’s campus, according to Doug Cohen, a spokesman for District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office. No one was injured in the firing. Cohen said the shot was not aimed at anyone and that other officers were present at the time but there were no students nearby.

Joe Biden responded

US President Joe Biden’s reaction to the student protests has also come to light. Biden defended the right to protest, but also said that ‘order must prevail’. He said, “Disagreement is necessary for democracy. But there should never be chaos while expressing disagreement.
