The other top five nations where tourists landed in huge numbers include Malaysia with 1.25 million arrivals, India with 661,751, Laos with 538,789, Cambodia with 373,811, and Singapore with 365,593. The Tourism Authority of Thailand revealed the data on Friday.
The revival of the tourism sector is a wonderful affair for the growth of Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy. The finance ministry of Thailand predicted that the arrivals of foreign tourists in the country are likely to touch 10.3 million this year and it is expected to increase rapidly, which is predicted to reach 21.5 million in 2023.
Last year, the number of foreign visitors to Thailand was meager. It was only 428,000, which was about 40 million in pre-pandemic 2019.
