Mumbai: An official said on Thursday that Mumbai police confiscated more than 700 kg of mephedrone valued at Rs 1,400 crore following a raid at a drug manufacturing facility in Nalasopara in the Palghar district, and detained five people.
He claimed that the raid on the unit was carried out by the Mumbai criminal branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC).
“Specific inputs were used to guide the action,” Mephedrone, a prohibited substance, was being synthesised when the ANC team raided the location,” he added.
Four drug peddlers were apprehended in Mumbai; one individual was being held in Nalasopara, the official said.

He further added, “This is one of the largest narcotics hauls by the city police in recent times.”
Mephedrone, also known as’ meow meow ‘or MD, is a synthetic stimulant and psychotropic substance that has been banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
