A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been pressed into service in Uttarakhand following a heavy downpour since Sunday night. Three people, two women and a child, died. They were trapped under the debris in Kathbangla in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Rescue operations have started on war footing since Monday morning, when cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi landed in the area where people were trapped inside the debris. All of them were declared dead

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe rain in several parts of the country in the coming few days. According to the IMD, fairly widespread or moderate rainfall will likely take place with thunderstorms and lightning over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on Monday.
Similar circumstances are anticipated in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, which will also receive widespread rainfall over the next two days.
The Met department also forecast widespread rain for north interior Karnataka, Telangana, and Rayalaseema between August 28 and 30. Extensive rainfall is likely to occur in coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe and coastal Karnataka over the next few days.
