Pakistan: Eleven workers were killed and two were injured after a bomb blast took place in Pakistan’s North Waziristan. A police spokesman said that the bomb blast took place in a van in North Waziristan.
According to media, Deputy Commissioner Rehan Gul Khattak said that terrorists blew up a vehicle carrying laborers with explosives. Eleven workers were killed and two were seriously injured in the blast. Officials said the injured and the bodies have been taken to the hospital.
Officials said the deceased were residents of Makin and Wana tehsils of South Waziristan. The attack comes weeks after a major suicide blast in Bajaur, which killed at least 63 people, including 23 children, and injured over 200.
According to Al Jazeera, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the bombing in Bajaur. An election rally in Pakistan’s border district of Bajaur was targeted.
About 400 members of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) party, a key government coalition partner led by hardline leader Fazlur Rehman, were waiting for the speech to begin when an assailant detonated an explosive-laden jacket near the stage.
