New Delhi: A special court in Pakistan on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former prime minister Imran Khan by 14 days in the Cipher case, reducing the chances of his early release.

This is the third time Khan has been sent to jail on remand. The last 14 days of remand ended today. Special court judge Abul Hasnat Zulkarnain heard the district jail attack, where Khan has been in custody since August 5 after his arrest following his conviction in the Toshkhana case.
After the hearing, the court ordered him to be remanded in judicial custody till October 10 to complete the investigation. The court also extended the remand of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi for the same period.
Although the Islamabad High Court on Monday ordered the authorities to transfer Khan to Rawalpindi or Adiala Jail, the directive was not implemented. Earlier, authorities had allowed the case to be heard in jail due to security concerns.
