New Delhi: A major road accident took place in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan. Actually, a van carrying tourists fell into a pit, due to which about eight people including a child died and many people were injured.
Eight people were killed and nine were injured in the accident near Babusar Pass in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan. District Coordinator of Diamer Rescue 1122 Shaukat Riaz said that the accident happened due to a collision between a car and a van.
According to Chilas Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wazir Liaquat, the van was going from Sahiwal to Gilgit with 16 tourists.”The van caught fire after falling into the pit,” according to the information.
He said that the injured were immediately taken to Chilas Regional Headquarters Hospital. Liaquat said that among the injured are four women, four children and one man. At present, all the injured are said to be out of danger.
