Earlier, 200 fishermen were to be released from Karachi’s Malir Jail on May 12, but due to the death of two, 198 fishermen were released. Jail Superintendent Nazir Tunio had said, “The first batch of imprisoned Indian fishermen has been released. Two more batches will be released in June and July. 200 and 100 prisoners will be released later.” Pakistan and India regularly arrest rival fishermen for violating maritime boundaries.
