Pakistan: Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been granted temporary relief by the Balochistan High Court. The BHC on Friday suspended the arrest warrant issued against Imran Khan for two weeks. Imran is accused of inciting public against government institutions, with a local court issuing an arrest warrant against him.

The BHC on Friday suspended the arrest warrant issued against Imran Khan for two weeks. Imran is accused of inciting public against government institutions, with a local court issuing an arrest warrant against him.
According to Pakistani media reports, when the Quetta Police team reached Imran Khan’s residence in Lahore to arrest him, his arrest was suspended by the court. The Quetta Judicial Magistrate had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the PTI chief following a case registered at Bijli Ghar police station.
A case was registered against Imran Khan for defaming national institutions. The Balochistan Police has registered a case against the PTI chairman on the complaint of a citizen named Abdul Khalil Karak. BHC judge Zaheer-ud-Din Kakar heard the petition filed by Iqbal Shah of Insaf Lawyers Forum (ISF) on behalf of the PTI chief.
The petition stated that the offense was not committed within the jurisdiction of the Electricity Police Station and requested the court to quash the FIR. Suspending the warrant, Justice Kakar also issued summons to the Balochistan police chief, SP and station house officer of Bijli police station. Geo News reported that the hearing was adjourned for two weeks.
A day earlier, a local court in Quetta issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the PTI chief in a case registered under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA). The judicial magistrate asked Imran to appear in the court.
In his speech on Sunday, a team of Islamabad Police reached his Zaman Park residence to arrest him in the Toshakhana case. According to the report of The News International, a total of 37 cases are registered against Imran Khan in different parts of the country.
