Rajouri: The Army officials on Tuesday identified the Pakistani terrorist killed in an ongoing gunfight with security forces in the higher reaches of Surankote sub-division in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district as Abu Zarrara aka Abu Zar.
While confirming Abu Zar’s killing in the encounter, the Army spokesman said that one AK assault rifle, four magazines, hand grenade “and other incriminating material” has been recovered in the ongoing operation.
To note, the encounter broke out in the valley early this morning after security forces cordoned the area following a tip off about the presence of terrorists there.
As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the terrorist “tried to escape from the cordon after resorting to heavy firing on forces but he was gunned down in retaliatory fire”, an official said.
The slain terrorist’s body has been retrieved from the encounter site by security forces, he added.
Abu Zar, he said, was active in this area from past some time with Army personnels terming his killing as a major success.
