Pandit Laxmikant Dixit Demise: Priest, who performed on consecration of Ram Lalla, dies at 90

Pandit Laxmikant Dixit Passes Away: Pandit Laxmikant Dixit, the chief Acharya who performed the consecration of Ram Lalla and a great scholar of Kashi, passed away. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit breathed his last at the age of 90. The ritual of consecration of Ram temple was performed by a team of 121 priests on 22 January 2024 in Ayodhya. In which Kashi scholar Laxmikant Dixit was the chief priest.

Laxmikant Dixit was originally from Solapur district of Maharashtra, but his family had settled in Kashi several generations ago. His ancestors also performed many religious rituals in the princely states of Nagpur and Nashik. One of his ancestors was the famous Pandit Gaga Bhatt, who performed the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th century.

Pandit Laxmikant has been a senior teacher of Sangveda College located in Meerghat, Varanasi. He has been counted among the good scholars of Yajurveda in Kashi. He has also mastered the method of worship. He took initiation into the Vedas and rituals from his uncle Ganesh Dixit Bhatt.
