New Delhi: Papalpreet Singh, a close aide of Amritpal Singh, was arrested from Amritsar district on Monday. Papalpreet has been arrested under the National Security Act (Rasuka). Police said Papalpreet is considered a ‘mentor’ of Amritpal and was allegedly in touch with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

It is reported that after being arrested from Amritsar, Papalpreet Singh has been taken to the high-security Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. Explain that the NSA (Rasuka) law allows the accused to be kept in custody for one year without any charge. Amritpal Singh and Papalpreet managed to escape from the trap laid by the police last month.

8 More associates of Amritpal kept in Dibrugarh Jail

So far eight close aides of Amritpal Singh are lodged in the high-security Dibrugarh Central Jail and all of them have been booked under the NSA. Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjeet Singh was sent to Dibrugarh jail on 21 March. Six days after that, Varinder Singh alias Fauji, a retired army constable who was Amritpal’s bodyguard, was also flown to a jail in Assam. Now Papalpreet has also been sent to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam after his arrest.

6 More cases registered against Papalpreet
After his arrest yesterday, Punjab Police Inspector General (Headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill had said, “Papalpreet is a key associate of Amritpal Singh. He was caught from Kathunangal area of ​​Amritsar. ”He said that Papalpreet has been detained under Rasuka and 6 other cases are also registered against him. Earlier, officials had said that Papalpreet was arrested by the Punjab Police in an operation in which its intelligence unit was also involved.

Nepal police alert regarding Amritpal’s entry
At the same time, days after the fugitive radical preacher was put on the country’s watch list, the Nepal Police said on Monday that it is on alert regarding the possible entry of Amritpal Singh into the country. “We have not received any information about Amritpal’s entry into Nepal,” said Poshraj Pokhraj Pokharel, a spokesman for the Nepal Police. The spokesperson said that the Nepal Police is on alert regarding this.

He also said that there is no truth in the reports of Indian security personnel entering the country to trace Khalistan supporter Amritpal. It is reported that India has asked Nepal to be alert about Amritpal’s possible entry into Nepal. Nepal Police has said that Amritpal has not yet entered Nepal.

Escaped from the police trap
Significantly, on March 18, a fundamentalist preacher managed to escape from the clutches of the police by changing his vehicle and appearance in Jalandhar. An FIR has been registered against Amritpal and his associates under various sections including promoting enmity between communities, attempt to murder, assault on police personnel and obstructing public officials from discharge of duty.
