Pardaphash Exclusive: Vidya Bharti, RSS Affiliate pitches for syllabus change in UP

Lucknow: Vidya Bharti,RSS Affiliate that runs a chain of schools and works in the education sector, has began talks with the Yogi government, seeking modifications in the school curriculum.

Vidya Bharti is of the view that Aryans cannot be categorically described as immigrants. In addition, the whole idea of ‘Ekatma Manavvad’ of Deendayal Upadhyaya should be included in textbooks.

According to sources, cases and personalities, which enhance the honour of India should be added to textbooks and not those that make us feel humiliated.

The syllabus on English consists of the works of mainly foreign writers while there are plenty of Indian writers who write in English.

More than 90 per cent of textbooks are full of works by foreign writers. Vidya Bharti is suggesting that textbooks should have works by 65 per cent of Indian writers and 35 per cent of foreign writers.

Works of Hindi poets such as Shyam Narayan Pandey and Kavi Bhushan have been excluded from the syllabus. Furthermore, organisation is recommending including topics on ancient philosopher Nagarjuna, mathematicians Bhaskaracharya and Aryabhata and Ayurveda contributor Charaka.

Vidya Bharti’s east UP unit, which covers 49 districts and in the mean time running 1,225 schools has  4.25 lakh students.
