Parineeti Chopra Starrer Saina Nehwal’s biopic is all set to make its theatrical release on March 26.
It was all set to make its direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime but now as per the guidelines the theatres have 100% occupancy, the makers felt best to make it a theatrical release and bring Saina on the big screen considering that it tells the story of a sporting icon that deserves to be enjoyed in the cinema halls.
They had been contemplating on a March 26 or April 9 release over the last few days, and have finally narrowed down on March 26. “A lot of factors were taken into consideration to reverse the decision and then decide on the release date. As things stand today, it’s set for a March 26 release in cinema halls across India. Producer, Bhushan Kumar, is now all set to unwind his line up extending to over 20 major films through the year, which begins with Mumbai Saga on March 19,” the source added. Parineeti has put in a lot of efforts to slip into the character of Saina, and is excited with the fact that it is arriving on the big screen.
Interestingly, this is the second Bhushan Kumar production that has reversed it’s plan of premiering direct to digital after Mumbai Saga. “Both Mumbai Saga and Saina were eyeing at a premiere on Amazon Prime, however, in a sudden turn of events, the makers along with their digital partner amicably resolved the confusion and decided on bringing the film on the platform it is meant for,” the source concluded.
It’s going to be back-to-back releases for Parineeti at the box-office, as the Dibakar Banerjee directorial, Sandeep Aur Pinky Farrar co-starring Arjun Kapoor, will arrive just a week before Saina. Holistically, the actress would have 3 releases in a short span of one month with Girl on the Train on Netflix and the two above mentioned films in cinema halls. Stay tuned for more.
