Parliament Session Set to Begin June 18-19 After Historic Lok Sabha Election Win

Following Narendra Modi’s historic third-term swearing-in as Prime Minister on Sunday, sources confirm that the first Parliament session will commence on June 18 or 19. This marks a significant step as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) begins its third consecutive term in power.

Parliament Session Set to Begin June 18-19

The initial session will start with the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs). This will be followed by the election of a new Speaker for the Lok Sabha. According to sources, this session is expected to be brief, potentially lasting only a few days.

Modi’s Historic Swearing-In Ceremony

On June 9, Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister, leading a 72-member Union Council of Ministers. The event at Rashtrapati Bhavan was a grand spectacle attended by nearly 9,000 people. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Modi and his Cabinet.

Key Members of the New Cabinet
The new cabinet includes senior BJP leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S Jaishankar, who were part of Modi 2.0. The council also comprises 30 Cabinet ministers, five Ministers of State with Independent charge, and 36 Ministers of State. Portfolios for the new ministers are yet to be announced.

Focus on Youth and Experience
Modi emphasized the blend of youth and experience in his new team. “This team of ministers is a great blend of youth and experience; we will leave no stone unturned in improving people’s lives,” PM Modi posted on X. He expressed his commitment to serving 140 crore Indians and working with the Council of Ministers to propel India to new heights of progress.

Notable New Faces in the Cabinet
The new cabinet features 33 first-time ministers, including three former chief ministers—Shivraj Singh Chauhan (Madhya Pradesh), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana), and HD Kumaraswamy (Karnataka). Among the fresh faces is actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, who made history as the BJP’s first Lok Sabha MP from Kerala.

The Modi ministry now stands at 72 members, just under the maximum limit of 81, signaling a strategic and balanced approach to governance in this new term.
