According to the report, the incident took place in aircraft number AA292. The aircraft flew from New York at 9:16 pm on Friday night and landed at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here at 10:12 pm after 14 hours 26 minutes flight.
A source in the airport said that the accused is a student of American University. He said that after the student apologized, the male victim was not willing to report the case to the police as this could have threatened his career. However, the airline took it seriously and reported it to the Air Traffic Control at IGI Airport.
After the crew came to know about the incident on the board, he informed the pilot which informed the ATC, which alerted the CISF personnel, who handed over the accused passenger to the Delhi Police.
Another source at the airport said that after finding out the incident, its security team of the airline came into action with CISF. The accused was immediately taken into custody as soon as the aircraft landed. The police is recording the statements of the persons concerned.
According to the Civil Aviation Rules, if a passenger is found guilty of uncontrolled behavior, in addition to action under criminal law, he will be banned from flying for a special time period based on the level of crime. This is the second such incident in the last few months when a passenger has committed such an act with his co -passenger in a state of intoxication.
