Patra Chawl case: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s judicial custody extended till 17 October

New Delhi: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has got another setback in the Patra Chawl land scam case. The court has extended his judicial custody till October 17. His bail plea will also be heard on October 17. Earlier, Raut was ordered to be kept in judicial custody till October 10.

Let us inform that Sanjay Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 1 for interrogation of money laundering angle. Sanjay Raut is presently in judicial custody. And he has been kept in Arthur Road Jail.

On July 31, ED officials had raided many bases of the Shiv Sena leader and had also questioned him with the family. Earlier on June 28, the agency summarized them for questioning in the money laundering case. It is alleged that a scam of Rs 1034 crore has been scamed in the eligible challenge.

The name of Sanjay Raut’s wife is also associated with this scam. The ED had also summoned him for questioning. Raut is considered to be the closest aide of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In April this year, the ED had attached immovable properties worth ₹11.15 crore, including a flat at Dadar, held by Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha and eight land parcels at Kihim near Alibag, jointly held by the latter with Swapna Patkar.
