Pet owners need to pay Rs 10,000 fine in case of pet attacks and treat injured victims: Noida Authority

The Noida Authority has decided to fine pet owners Rs 10,000 in case of pet dog or cat attacks beginning March 1, 2023.

Noida: The Noida Authority has decided to fine pet owners Rs 10,000 in case of pet dog or cat attacks beginning March 1, 2023. This decision was made in response to the rise in dog-bite incidents in the city and surrounding areas over the past few months.

The Noida Authority also made the decision to hold the owners responsible for any untoward incidents due to a pet dog or cat. The owners of the pet will have to deposit a fine of Rs 10,000, and if a person is injured by any pet, then the owner will have to bear the injured person’s treatment expenses.

It is mandatory that pet dogs must now be sterilised and vaccinated against rabies, in case of violation, a fine of Rs 2,000 per month will be imposed starting on March 1, 2023.

Construction of dog shelters for ill, enraged, or violent street dogs will be started with the approval of the RWA/AOA and village residents; the upkeep of these shelters will fall within the purview of the relevant RWA/AOA.

RWAs and AOAs will only be responsible for clearly indicating the feeding location in an outdoor area and setting up food and drink.

It is the pet owner’s duty to clean up after their dog’s waste in a public area.
