Former Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and renowned scientist from Odisha Prafulla Kumar Jena passed away on Tuesday. He breathed his last at the age of 92 at his residence in Bhubaneswar. His family gave this information.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled her death and said that Jena promoted scientific research in Odisha. Patnaik said that Prafulla Kumar Jena, through his research, developed new waste management processes and pioneered the conversion of industrial and mining wastes into useful goods. His departure is a big loss for the state. I pray for the peace of the departed soul.
The mortal remains of Dr PK Jena will be cremated with state honours.
