PM Kisan Yojana: PM Modi to release 17th installment of PM Kisan Yojana on June 18 in Varanasi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Varanasi on June 18. During this, Modi will release Rs 20,000 crore under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan Nidhi) scheme. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan gave this while addressing a press conference on Saturday. He said that PM Modi will provide certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups designated as Krishi Sakhis after releasing the 17th installment of PM Kisan Yojana.

He informed that this program will be organized by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in coordination with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi began his third term on June 10 by authorizing the release of the 17th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi, which aims to benefit 9.3 crore farmers and disburse around Rs 20,000 crore. Under this scheme, launched in February 2019, an amount of Rs 6,000 is transferred to farmers directly into their Aadhaar linked bank accounts in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each.

Addressing the press conference, Chauhan said that PM Modi has given the responsibility to work on the plan for 100 days. He said the 17th installment of PM Kisan, amounting to over Rs 20,000 crore, will be distributed by the Prime Minister to over 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers with a single click of a button from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The Agriculture Minister further said that around 2.5 crore farmers from across the country will participate in the event.

Additionally, 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), more than 1 lakh primary agricultural cooperative societies and 5 lakh Common Service Centers (CSCs) across the country will participate in the event to increase awareness among farmers. During the program, Prime Minister Modi will also provide certificates as Krishi Sakhis to over 30,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and distribute certificates as insignia to five Krishi Sakhis.

This financial assistance will help the farmers to meet their agricultural and other emergent needs. The farmer-centric digital infrastructure has ensured that the benefits of the scheme reach all farmers across the country without the involvement of any middlemen. Maintaining complete transparency in registration and verification of beneficiaries, the Government of India has disbursed over Rs 3.04 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers across the country.

With this release, the total amount transferred to beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore.
