PM Modi 90th edition Mann Ki Baat highlights: We should not forget dark days of Emergency, talk about start-ups and sports

New Delhi: On June 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 90th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, his monthly radio address. The Mann Ki Baat programme broadcast on the entire network of All India Radio and Doordarshan, AIR News website and newsonair mobile app. It is streamed live on the YouTube channels of the AIR News, DD News, PMO and Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

Mann Ki Baat highlights

-“The democratic values ingrained in us since centuries, the spirit of democracy that flows in our veins ultimately triumphed through the democratic process only. People of India got rid of the Emergency and restored democracy,” he said in his address. “Popular singer Kishore Kumar was banned after he refused to praise the government,” the prime minister added. Referring to the defeat of Congress government after in the general elections after the emergency was lifted, PM said ‘it was our democratic mindset that eventually prevailed.’

-During his radio address, the prime minister spoke about India’s development in the space sector. “In recent times, the space sector has witnessed development. Among the achievements include the formation of agency In-Space. It is an agency which is promoting opportunities for private sector in space,” he said. “Two start-ups in Chennai and Hyderabad, Agnikul and Skyroot are developing launch vehicles that will take small payloads into space, he added.

“Before 2019, StartUps in the space sector were not common. In the last 3 years, things have changed and our youth have shown great innovative skills,” the prime minister said.

-“Today, when the country is celebrating 75 years of Independence, we must not forget the dark period of Emergency. Amrit Mahotsav not only tells us stories of Independence from Foreign rule but also tells us the journey of 75 years of Independence,” said PM Modi.

-The prime minister hailed legendary cricketer Mithali Raj who retired from international cricket. “Mithali is not just an extraordinary cricketer. She is an inspiration for several sportspersons. I wish her all the best for her future.” PM Modi also congratulated Olympic champion in javelin throw Neeraj Chopra for winning gold at the Paavo Nurmi Games.

-PM Modi shares inspiring examples of individual and community efforts who are working on ‘Waste to Wealth’.

-PM Modi in his monthly Mann Ki Baat praised the vaccination coverage and said that India is close to administering 200 crore COVID vaccine doses to eligible beneficiaries, adding that the precutionary dose is being administered at a faster rate.

-PM Modi said that Indian players made many records in Khelo India Youth Games. During Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi says, “A total of 12 records have been broken in these games, out of which 11 records have been registered in the names of women players.”

-The Prime Minister talked about the upcoming Rath Yatra, saying there is great emphasis on yatras in our culture as India has come a long way on its journey of growth as one nation over thousands of years. “In just a few days, from July 1, the famous yatra of Lord Jagannath is going to start in Puri, Odisha. People have started preparations for the good fortune of visiting Puri on this occasion.”
