New Delhi: Prime Minister was present, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, and other MPs, at a lunch on Tuesday in Parliament, where millet dishes were served. All the leaders enjoyed lunch together.
We attended a magnificent lunch in Parliament where delicacies made with millet were presented as we got ready to celebrate 2023 as the International Year of Millets. It’s encouraging to see involvement from members of all parties. Modi posted a few images from the meal.

It’s interesting to note that the luncheon was held after a fight between ruling and opposition members in the Rajya Sabha over remarks Kharge made in Rajasthan’s Alwar, with treasury bench members demanding an apology from him for the “foul” remarks.
Kharge asserted during a rally on Monday that the Congress had made a lot of sacrifices for the independence of the country, and two stalwart leaders, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, made a supreme sacrifice and lost their lives for the nation. On the other hand, “not even a dog of the BJP was lost” for the country.
Kharge further added that the BJP government “talks like a lion but behaves like a mouse” since it is avoiding a debate in Parliament on the subject and not holding China accountable for its border intrusions.
