After attending the BRICS summit, PM Modi has reached Athens, the capital of Greece on a one-day visit on Friday. PM Modi was received by Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapateritis at the Athens International Airport. After this the Indian community warmly welcomed him.
On this occasion, PM Modi wrote on his official X (Twitter) handle, “I thank President Katarina N. Sakellaropoulou, the government and the people of Greece for conferring on me the Grand Cross of the Order of Honor. Shows respect for India.

PM Modi pays tribute to soldiers at the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ in Athens. There is a war memorial located opposite the old Royal Palace in Syntagma Square in Athens. It is a cemetery dedicated to Greek soldiers who died during various wars. Here PM Modi paid floral tributes. After this he was given a guard of honour.
When PM Modi reached the hotel in Athens, the people of the Indian community were already waiting for him there. As soon as PM Modi arrived at the hotel, people started raising slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Modi-Modi’.
During this visit to Greece, discussions were held on trade, technology and defense co-operation between the two countries. According to the information, 12 Indian businessmen have also reached Athens along with PM Modi.
PM Modi’s visit to Greece is also special because after 40 years an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Greece. Earlier Indira Gandhi had visited Greece.
