PM Modi changes his display picture on his social media accounts today to “Tiranga” and asks his countrymen to do the same

New Delhi: Independence Day is around the corner. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today changed his display  picture to “Tiranga” (tricolor or national flag) on his social media accounts.

“It is a special August 2nd today! At a time when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, our nation is all set for #HarGharTiranga, a collective movement to celebrate our Tricolour. PM Modi tweeted. “I have changed the DP on my social media pages and urge you all to do the same.

“I pay homage to the great Pingali Venkayya on his birth anniversary. Our nation will forever be indebted to him for his efforts in giving us the Tricolour, which we are very proud of. Taking strength and inspiration from the Tricolour, may we keep working for national progress, “he said in another tweet.

Besides PM Modi, several other veteran party leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda, also adopted “Tiranga” as their display picture on their social media pages.

The Prime Minister announced in his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat on Sunday that every citizen should make “Har Ghar Tiranga” to use “Tricolour” on a mass level as their display pictures on social media between August 2 and 15.

Har Ghar Tiranga is a campaign regarding ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to encourage people to hoist the “tricolour” at home to mark the splendid 75th year of Independence of the nation.
