PM Modi congratulate Indian men’s hockey team on historic Bronze win at Tokyo Olympics

New Delhi: Simranjeet Singh scored two goals as India made a strong comeback after falling twice to beat Germany 5-4 in the Olympic hockey match on Thursday. With this, India won the bronze medal in the Olympics after 41 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised this achievement of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team and congratulated him on the victory.

India is proud of its hockey team: PM Modi

PM Narendra Modi tweeted and said, ‘Historic! A day that will be etched in the memory of every Indian. Congratulations to our men’s hockey team for winning the bronze medal. With this achievement he has captured the imagination of the entire country, especially our youth. India is proud of its hockey team.

President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, “Congratulations to our men’s hockey team for winning an Olympic medal in hockey after 41 years. The team showed exceptional skill, resilience and determination to win. This historic win will usher in a new era in hockey and inspire the youth to move ahead in the game.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted and said, ‘Brilliant in blue. Congratulations to the Indian men’s hockey team on a grand victory to get us Olympic medals after 41 long years. This historic win on #Tokyo2020 will inspire the next generation of players. Best wishes for the future.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur tweeted and said, ‘One billion cheers for India! Boys, you did it! We can’t keep calm! #TeamIndia! Our men’s hockey team again dominated the Olympic history books today and defined its destiny! We are extremely proud of you!’

Congratulating the Indian team, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter, ‘Congratulations #TeamIndia. Very proud and happy moment for every Indian that our men’s hockey team has won bronze medal in #Tokyo2020. You have made the whole country proud.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi called it a big moment and wrote on Twitter, ‘Congratulations to the Indian men’s hockey team! This is a big moment. The whole country is proud of your achievement. Well deserved victory!’

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted, “Today, the Indian men’s hockey team has won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics with a historic performance. Today’s success has added a golden chapter in the history of Indian Hockey. The whole country is proud of this unforgettable achievement of ‘Team India’. Hearty congratulations ‘Team India’. Jai Hind!’
