In a heartening message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his congratulations to the distinguished individuals honored with the Padma Awards 2024, emphasizing India’s appreciation for their noteworthy contributions across diverse sectors. The awards, bestowed on the eve of the 75th Republic Day, recognize exceptional service and achievements in various fields.

The recipients of the prestigious Padma Awards 2024 include former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, actors Vyjayantimala Bali and Konidela Chiranjeevi, Sulabh International founder late Bindeshwar Pathak, the first woman judge of the Supreme Court late M Fathima Beevi, and Bombay Samachar owner Hormusji N Cama, among others.

Notable personalities such as actor Mithun Chakraborty, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu from Taiwan, BJP veteran Ram Naik, late actor Vijaykanth, singer Usha Uthup, and philanthropist Kiran Nadar were also honored with the coveted civilian awards.

Expressing his sentiments on X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “Congratulations to all those who have been conferred the Padma Awards. India cherishes their contribution across diverse sectors. May they continue to inspire people with their exceptional work.”

The awards cover various disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service.

The government’s announcement revealed a total of 132 Padma Awards for 2024, comprising 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri Awards. Notably, the list includes 30 women, 8 individuals from the category of Foreigners, NRI, PIO, OCI, and 9 posthumous awardees. The ceremonial conferment of these awards by the President of India is typically held at Rashtrapati Bhawan around March or April each year, symbolizing the recognition of excellence and service to the nation.
