PM Modi flags off first phase of Hyderabad Metro

A long-cherished dream of Hyderabadis came true on Tuesday with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the first phase of the Metro Rail.

Billed as India’s largest Metro project taken up under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and the most modern, the Rs 14,800 crore Metro covers a stretch of 72 kms spread over three high-density corridors with 66 stations. The first phase covers 30 km stretch between Miyapur and Nagole stations with 24 stations.

Modi unveiled a pylon at Miyapur station, marking the launch of the much-awaited project that is set to transform the landscape of the historic city. The Prime Minister was shown a documentary on the key features of the elevated Metro, billed as the largest urban development project in the country.
