PM Modi Highlights India’s Cultural Pride at Braj Raj Utsav in Mathura

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 525th birth anniversary of Mirabai, the 16th-century mystic poet, at the Braj Raj Utsav in Mathura. During his address, he emphasized India’s independence from a slave mentality and the nation’s renewed pride in its heritage.

In a significant move, PM Modi visited the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura before the event, offering prayers at four temples, including Adi Keshav, Yogmaya Mandir, and Bhagwat Bhawan. He spent time at the sanctum sanctorum, expressing his hope for the day when devotees can have a magnificent darshan of Lord Krishna in Mathura.

Modi regretfully noted that the Braj region, a land of devotion, love, literature, music, culture, and civilization, did not receive the recognition it deserved post-independence. He attributed this neglect to those who sought to disconnect India from its past and cultural identity.

During the event, the PM released a commemorative stamp and a ₹525 coin in honor of Mirabai. He pledged comprehensive development for the Braj region and commended the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad for its efforts.

In his speech, Modi highlighted the significance of other cultural and religious landmarks in India, such as Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahakaal complex, and the upcoming Ram temple in Ayodhya. He expressed confidence in the Braj region’s development, calling it the “Sangam” of the Bhakti movement.

The Prime Minister concluded by recalling his connection to Gujarat and Dwarkadhish, emphasizing the common goal of safeguarding the nation during times of crisis. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed PM Modi, acknowledging the country’s progress and global respect under his leadership.

The event featured a cultural program, including a dance performance by Hema Malini, the local BJP MP, based on the life of Mirabai. The PM’s address, the release of commemorative items, and the promise of development underscored the cultural richness and historical significance of Mathura and the Braj region.
