PM Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and others paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary on Tuesday.
New Delhi: On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, newly sworn-in President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and other dignitaries paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary on Tuesday, August 16. He died in 2018.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a noted BJP leader, worked for nation building. His contribution was immense to the progress of the country during his tenure as Prime Minister. Besides leaders, people from all walks of life paid tribute to the former prime minister at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ on his death anniversary.
Along with PM Modi and the President, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and BJP national president JP Nadda also paid floral tributes to the late former Prime Minister on his death anniversary.
Namita Kaul Bhattacharya, foster daughter of the late Atal Bihari, was also present with the top brass of the BJP. She’s also paid tribute on his death anniversary at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ today.
While paying tribute on Twitter, M Venkaiah Naidu called Atal Bihari Vajpayee “the tallest leader of our times.”
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “My tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on his death anniversary.”
Atal Bihari Vajpayee had the distinction of serving the nation as PM three times. The first time he took the oath as PM was in 1996 for 13 days. He was sworn-in again as PM in 1998-99 for 13 months. After that, he served the full term as Prime Minister from 1999–2004.
