New Delhi: The dream of a new Parliament House that the country had seen about 32 years ago, has now been fulfilled. The new parliament building is ready. This building, completed in two and a half years, is hi-tech and equipped with Indian art and culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate it to the nation in a grand program on Sunday. During this, the historical and religious Sengol will also be installed in the new Parliament House, which was handed over to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru by the British as a symbol of the transfer of power.

However, it was later handed over to the museum at Prayagraj.Along with the members of both the Houses of the Parliament, prominent personalities of the country have also been invited for the inauguration of the new building. However, several other opposition parties, including the Congress, have announced a boycott of the inaugural programme.

The new building has been built in the old Parliament House complex itself. The new Parliament House with its new features is much bigger than the old one. It is believed that on this occasion the PM can also give a new name to the new Parliament House. According to officials associated with the Central Vista project, the need for a new Parliament was being felt for a long time as the existing building does not have enough space for MPs to sit.

It may be known that this thought first came up during 1991-92, when PV Narasimha Rao was the Prime Minister of the country. At that time, the then Lok Sabha Speaker Shivraj Patil had called Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and asked him to think in this direction.

After this, several rounds of discussions were also held on this issue at the government level. It said that due to the ban, the number of members of Parliament is not going to increase till 2026, so there is no need for it now. Will think about 2026 as it approaches. If sources are to be believed, the current government had also approved the construction of the new Parliament House keeping in mind the delimitation that would happen after 2026.

In the first phase, Havan and Puja from 7: 30 to 8: 30. Sengol installation between 8: 30 to 9: 00. Program in Lok Sabha Chambers at 9: 00. Prayer meeting in the lobby of Parliament at 9.30 in the morning – PM Modi in the second phase in the afternoon. Will reach Parliament at 12:07 National Anthem and then welcome speech of Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha at 12:10 PM Screening of two films on Parliament from 12:17 PM Vice President Dhankhar’s message at 12:29 PM followed by President’s message 12:43 PM- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s speech at 1:00 pm Prime Minister will release special coin and seal PM Modi’s speech at 1.10 pm. Motion of thanks at 1:30.

The construction work was started on 10 December 2020. The idea first came up during 1991-92. The new Parliament House has seating arrangements for 888 members of the Lok Sabha and 384 of the Rajya Sabha. The sitting capacity of the Lok Sabha will be increased up to 1280 during the joint sittings of both the Houses. Keeping in mind the delimitation that will happen after 2026, approval has been given for the construction of the new building, seats in the Houses may increase.

In this, one thousand years old history of the country will be visible. Statues of great men like Chanakya to Dr. Ambedkar have been installed in this building. A gallery has also been prepared of those unsung heroes of freedom, whose contribution the country has been deprived of till now.
