PM Modi to launch series of development projects worth Rs 56,000 crore in Telangana today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Adilabad district of Telangana today (March 4) to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of numerous development initiatives related to power, rail and road sectors worth more than Rs 56,000 crores.

Adilabad/Telangana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Adilabad district of Telangana today (March 4) to launch, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects related to power, rail and road sectors worth more than Rs 56,000 crores. The visit, proposed on March 4, is part of a larger initiative to launch development projects in several states, aimed at enhancing regional development and prosperity.

At the center of Modi’s visit is a commitment to infrastructural expansion and economic revival in Adilabad. The proposed airport and textile park is expected to take advantage of Adilabad’s position as one of Asia’s largest cotton producers, potentially turning the region into a textile hub.

Additionally, Modi’s engagement with local leaders, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, underlines a concerted effort to address long-standing development aspirations, such as the revival of Cement Corporation’s ailing unit and the Armur- Increase in rail connectivity through Adilabad line.

NTPC projects
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate of state-owned power giant NTPC’s various projects worth Rs 30,023 crore.

He will dedicate Unit -2 (800 MW) of NTPC’s Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-I), located in the Peddapalli district of Telangana. With an investment of Rs 8,007 crore, this project utilises ultra-supercritical technology, ensuring optimal power generation efficiency while significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

The commissioning of this project will not only enhance the power supply in Telangana but also guarantee 24×7 availability of affordable and high-quality power nationwide. “Based on Ultra-Supercritical Technology, the project will supply 85 per cent power to Telangana and will have the highest power generation efficiency of approximately 42 per cent among all power stations of NTPC in India. The foundation stone of the project was also laid by the Prime Minister,” the PMO said in a statement.

He will open three National Highway projects and establish four laning of 40 km long Kandi to Ramsanpalle section Indore – Hyderabad Economic Corridor and the upgradation of 47 km long Miryalaguda to Kodad Section of NH-167. These two corridors are expected to improve connectivity to boost tourism as well as economic activity and industries in the region. He will inaugurate, doubling and electrification of Sanathnagar – Moula Ali rail line along with six new station buildings. The entire 22 Route Kms of the project has been commissioned with Automatic signalling and has been completed as part of the MMTS (Multi Modal Transport Service) Phase – II project. He will also flag-off the inaugural MMTS Train Service from Ghatkesar – Lingampalli via Moula Ali – Sanathnagar which improved connectivity for new areas in Hyderabad and Secunderabad twin cities.

The visit is part of a broader strategy by Modi to strengthen the power sector and infrastructure across India, with Adilabad being an important focal point for such initiatives in Telangana. The inauguration of projects worth over Rs 56,000 crore, including significant investment in thermal power, exemplifies the Central Government’s effort towards sustainable development and energy efficiency.

Local leaders and citizens alike have high expectations that these projects will boost economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve the quality of life in Adilabad, establishing it as a major player in India’s growth story .
