PM Modi to unveil, launch series of development projects worth 32,000 crore in J&K today

In a historic visit that promises to reshape the contours of development in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on an extensive tour of Jammu, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore.

Jammu: In a historic visit that promises to reshape the contours of development in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on an extensive tour of Jammu, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore. This important initiative spans across various critical sectors including health, education, transport and infrastructure, marking an important moment in the development path of the region post-2019.

The spectrum of projects unveiled by the Prime Minister is vast and diverse. Major openings include three new Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), which aim to uplift the educational landscape of the region. A new terminal building at the Jammu airport promises to enhance connectivity and boost tourism, while the establishment of a common user facility petroleum depot is set to streamline the fuel supply chain. The introduction of the first electric train in the valley not only ushers in a new era of eco-friendly transportation but also symbolizes the technological advancement of the region.

All you need to know about development projects that will be opened by PM Modi in Jammu and Kashmir

  • The foundation stone of a new terminal building of Jammu Airport will be laid by PM Modi. The new terminal building, spread over a 40,000 sqm area, will have a capacity of 2,000 passengers. It will be equipped with several modern facilities.
  • The foundation stone of a 44.33 km stretch of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway connecting Jammu to Katra, phase 2 of Srinagar Ring Road, the upgradation of a 161 km long Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri stretch and the construction of Kulgam Bypass & Pulwama bypass on NH-444, will be laid by PM Modi.
  • The foundation stone of a Common User Facility (CUF) Petroleum depot, worth Rs 677 crore, will be laid in Jammu by the Prime Minister.
  • The appointment letters to 1500 new Government recruits of Jammu and Kashmir will be handed over by PM Modi.
    AIIMS Hospital will be inaugurated by PM Modi in Vijaypur. The foundation of the hospital was laid by PM Modi in February 2019.
  • He will give a green signal to the first Electric Train in Jammu and Kashmir. The train will run between Sangaldan station and Baramulla station. Another rail project that will be launched by PM Modi is the development of a new railway line between Banihal and Sangaldan.
  • Also, the Prime Minister will inaugurate projects such as a railway bridge in Reasi, the Devika river rejuvenation project and Shahpur Kandi project.
  • PM Modi will also give his nod to 124 new projects in Jammu and Kashmir, including road projects, bridges and flats for Kashmiri migrants.

Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a project to develop CUF (Common User Facility) Petroleum depot at Jammu.

Amidst infrastructure and technological advancements, significant emphasis has been laid on employment generation and youth empowerment. The distribution of appointment letters to 1,500 new government recruits is an important step towards fulfilling the aspirations of the youth of the area and reducing unemployment. This initiative, with the registration of 656 startups, reflects a strong strategy to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and economic diversification in Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited Maulana Azad Stadium and reviewed all the arrangements made for PM Modi’s day-long tour. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are excited for PM Modi’s visit. Billboards and hoardings having PM Modi’s pictures and the flags of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were installed across Jammu.

Lastly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu not only inaugurates a series of ambitious projects but also strengthens the government’s dedication to the all-round development of Jammu and Kashmir.
