Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of infrastructure projects valued at Rs. 12,800 crore in Bihar’s West Champaran district. The ceremony, held in Bettiah, marked significant developments across rail, road, petroleum, and natural gas sectors.
Addressing the rally in Bettiah, PM Modi expressed optimism about Bihar’s resurgence under the BJP-led central government and Nitish Kumar-led NDA state government. He underscored Bihar’s historical leadership role in the nation and its potential for further development.
PM Modi apologized for his delayed arrival, citing prior engagements in West Bengal. He acknowledged the spirited energy witnessed during a roadshow in the state, expressing gratitude for the enthusiastic reception.
Highlighting significant investments and initiatives, PM Modi emphasized the inauguration of the Muzaffarpur-Motihari LPG pipeline, an Indian Oil LPG bottling plant and storage terminal, and the city gas distribution project across several districts. Railway projects, including line doubling, gauge conversion, and station redevelopment, were also announced.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s absence at the event was notable, although several other dignitaries, including Governor Rajendra V Arlekar and Deputy CMs, were present. Earlier in the day, PM Modi engaged with women from Sandeshkhali in West Bengal, addressing allegations of sexual abuse involving Trinamool Congress leaders, reflecting his outreach efforts. This followed a public rally in Barasat, where he interacted with residents of Sandeshkhali.
