PM Narendra Modi pays tribute to former PM Indira Gandhi on her 105th birth anniversary

New Delhi: Today is the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. on the occasion of Indira Gandhi's birth anniversary, many politicians including PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi have remembered her.

New Delhi: Today is the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. On this occasion, today, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, only women will accompany Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Senior party leader Jairam Ramesh has given this information.

At the same time, on the occasion of Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary, many politicians including PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi have remembered her. PM Modi tweeted and said, Hundreds of salutes to our former PM Mrs. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary today during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by party chief Kharge, paid floral tributes to the Iron Lady at Shakti Sthal, the resting place of Indira Gandhi. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda were also seen paying their respect at the Raj Ghat.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking to Twitter and said, “Tributes to our former PM Mrs Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary.”

PM Modi also remembered Lakshmi Bai, the Jhansi queen who battled the British forces, on her birth anniversary on Saturday and said her courage and monumental contribution to the nation can never be forgotten. “Remembering Rani Lakshmibai on her Jayanti. Her courage and monumental contribution to our nation can never be forgotten. She is a source of inspiration for her steadfast opposition to colonial rule. Sharing glimpses from my visit to Jhansi on this day last year,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

Indira Gandhi was born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, to a Kashmiri Pandit family. She died on October 31, 1984. Indira Gandhi was an Indian politician who was a key figure in the Indian National Congress. She was elected as our nation’s third Prime Minister in 1966, and she was also the first and, to this day, only female Prime Minister of India.

Indira Gandhi was such a dominant figure in Indian politics at the end of 1977 that Congress party president D K Barooah coined the phrase “India is Indira and Indira is India.” Morarji Desai was appointed as deputy prime minister and finance minister in Gandhi’s government.
