New Delhi: According to the sources, PM Narendra Modi may hold 15 bilateral meetings during the G20 summit. Those with whom he will hold one-on-one discussions include US President Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron of France.
PM Narendra Modi will hold bilateral meetings with the US President and Bangladeshi Prime Minister at his official residence on Friday, according to the source. PM will also hold a meeting with the leader of Mauritius. Further, on September 10, PM Modi will have a lunch meeting with French President Macron.
PM Modi will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of UK, Japan, Germany and Italy besides participating in G20 events on Saturday. Besides, he will hold a pull-aside meeting with Canada and bilateral meetings with Comoros, Turkiye, UAE, South Korea, EU/EC, Brazil and Nigeria.
The G20 Leaders’ Summit will be attended by more than 30 heads of state and top officials of the EU and invited guest countries and heads of 14 international organizations.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the national capital on the eve of the G20 summit and police, paramilitary forces and other agencies are keeping a tight vigil in the city, officials told media on Friday.
Enhanced patrolling and intensive checking in border areas are some of the security measures deployed by Delhi Police at strategic locations ahead of the G20 summit to be held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. Delhi Police is being assisted by over 50,000 security personnel, K9 dog squads and mounted police.
“From the airport to the hotels and from the hotels to the G20 summit venues, the foreign delegates will be provided impeccable security by the Delhi Police during the prestigious summit,” a senior official said.
To strengthen the arrangements, the Delhi Police is also being assisted by specialized central agencies like the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the National Security Guard (NSG) and some Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
