PM Narendra Modi urges citizens to make yoga part of daily routine, says benefits are countless

New Delhi: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to make yoga a part of their daily life stating that it has countless benefits. Every year International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “In the coming days, the world will be celebrating International Yoga Day. I urge everyone to observe Yoga Day and make yoga an integral part of your daily life. The benefits are countless.”

On May 29, PM Modi, in his address during the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ (89th edition) program, had urged people to mark the upcoming International Yoga Day at a prestigious place in their town, village or city. The Prime Minister had said, ‘This time also I would urge you to celebrate Yoga Day, choose a place in your city, town or village which is most special. This place can be an ancient temple and tourist center or it can be on the bank of a famous river, lake or pond. With this, along with yoga, the identity of your area will also be strengthened and tourism will also be encouraged there.

PM Modi had also spoken about the importance of yoga during his address and called yoga a ‘great medium’ to ensure good health. He had said, ‘From the world’s top businessmen to film and sports personalities, from students to common people, everyone is making yoga an integral part of their life.’ Let us tell you that PM Modi is 21 in Mysore, Karnataka. May lead the main program of the 8th International Yoga Day celebrations on June. In fact, the Ministry of AYUSH has also planned to celebrate the day at 75 iconic places across the country.

During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2014, the PM first proposed the idea of ​​a mandatory International Day of Yoga at the United Nations. This initiative got the support of 177 countries. After this, International Yoga Day started being celebrated on 21st June. PM Modi had said in the UN, ‘Yoga is our ancient traditional invaluable gift. Yoga is the embodiment of the unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and achievement, and harmony between man and nature. It is the holistic form of health and wellness. It can be helpful in fighting climate change by making changes in our lifestyle and creating awareness in us. Let us act as initiating an ‘International Day of Yoga’.
