PM to visit poll-bound Tripura, Meghalaya today to unveil multiple projects worth over Rs 6,800 cr

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Meghalaya and Tripura today (December 18). Amid tensions with China, this visit of PM is considered very important. PM Narendra Modi will take part in the golden jubilee celebration of the North Eastern Council and attend its meeting in Shillong.

New Delhi: Amid tensions with China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an important visit to two northeastern states on Sunday (December 18). PM Modi will be in Meghalaya and Tripura today (December 18). He will jointly inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 6,800 crore in both the states. The projects are said to be related to agriculture, road, housing, telecommunication, IT and tourism etc.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council (NEC) are also being organized on Sunday. This program is being held in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. PM Modi will take part in it. According to the PM’s schedule, he will reach the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council at the Convention Center in Shillong at 10.30 am.

After this, PM Modi will reach Shillong at a public function at around 11:30 am and will inaugurate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of the projects. After Meghalaya, PM Modi will go to Tripura. In the capital Agartala, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several major projects at around 2:45 pm.

Amit Shah and CMs of seven states will also reach Shillong

Apart from PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and chief ministers of seven northeastern states will also participate in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council held in Shillong. According to the information, Home Minister Shah will preside over the Golden Jubilee celebrations. North Eastern Affairs Minister G Kishan Reddy will also reach the program.

The distance from Arunachal Pradesh to Meghalaya is about 20 hours by road. Whereas, the distance from Arunachal to Tripura is about 30 hours. The recent skirmish between the soldiers of India and China in the Tawang sector of Arunachal, which is included in the northeastern states, has heated up the atmosphere of the whole country. There was a clash in Tawang sector on December 9. There is a gap of only 9 days between the latest skirmish with the Chinese Army and PM Modi’s visit to the northeastern states, so this visit of the PM is considered important.
