Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the iconic ‘Atal Bridge’ on the Sabarmati river in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city on Saturday.
Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to announce the official opening of the iconic ‘Atal Bridge’ on the Sabarmati river in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city on Saturday.
PM Modi will begin his two-day trip to Gujarat on Saturday. A state government announcement stated that on the first day of his visit, PM Modi will address a gathering at the ‘Khadi Utsav’ event, which will be held on the Sabarmati Riverfront in the evening.
From the same venue, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the foot-over bridge, built by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation, and the bridge is named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
A day before the inauguration, PM Modi took to Twitter and shared pictures of the bridge. “Doesn’t the Atal Bridge look spectacular?” he wrote.
“An exemplary landmark of the Sabarmati Riverfront!” he said in another tweet while sharing a video of the bridge.
Facts regarding ‘Atal Bridge’
The design of the bridge is so fabulous that people can approach it from both the lower and upper walkways, or promenades, of the riverfront.
The roof of the bridge is remarkable. It is made up of multiple coloured fabrics, and the railing has been constructed totally of glass and stainless steel.
Besides pedestrians, cyclists can also use this bridge to cross the river while avoiding the huge amount of traffic.
It will provide a chance for people to view the riverfront from the middle of the waterbody.
