Poonch: In an unfortunate events, a mysterious blast happened near a temple in Surankote area of Poonch district, officials informed on Wednesday. Security forces have came into force for investigation after an incident of mysterious explosion.
Police and security forces cordoned off the area soon after the blast. As per sources, an explosion took place at Mandir Wali Gali in Surankote town creating a crater mark. Some splinters were seen in area around the explosion site.
They said that the occurrence occurred near Shivmandir. However, there were no immediate reports about any casualty or anybody getting hurt.
SHO Surankote confirmed the “mysterious explosion” and told that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been promptly rushed to the spot.
According to reports, there was an explosion near the temple at around 8:40 pm, the sound of which was heard far and wide. However, there is no news of any death or injury.
After the blast, shrapnel was found on the walls of the temple. It is not yet clear who is behind this blast, although security agencies and other security forces have started investigation.
Sources further said that it could be a grenade attack as there could be a conspiracy to target minorities in Surankote since the blast took place right behind the temple.
