Police arrested a hybrid LET terrorist, his aide in J&K's Sopore, and found arms and ammunition from their possession.
Srinagar: In Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore, police detained a hybrid Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist along with an over-the-ground worker (OGW) and found arms and ammunition in their possession.
After getting a tip-off, joint parties of Police Component Rafiabad, 22 Rashtriya Rifles, and 92 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) started conducting checks on various concurrent mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) grids at Nowpora Six Way Junction, MRF Chowk, Bahrampora Bridge, Sonawani Bridge, and Behrampora Seeloo Bridge after receiving information regarding the movement of two suspected terrorists.
The Naka party at Behrampora Seeloo Bridge noticed a suspicious movement of a vehicle with two people occupying the seats inside the car during the checking of vehicles around 7.30 pm. When the security personnel asked the driver to halt the vehicle, he hurriedly tried to flee the spot.
The security forces understood that something was wrong and chased down the vehicle, and in the end, succeeded in nabbing the terrorist.
At the time of interrogation, they revealed that we had to deliver a weapon and a hand grenade to Seelo, which were planned to be used for targeted killing.
The identification of the accused has been made as Muzaffar Ah Dar of Pazalpura at Dangiwacha in Sopore and Sofi Ishaq Ahmad of Amberpora at Tarzoo in Sopore.
Police have found a huge number of weapons: a pistol, a pistol magazine with eight rounds, and one hand grenade in the possession of Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, and one Chinese hand grenade in the possession of Sofi Ishaq Ahmad.
A case has been registered under different sections of the anti-terror act, including Sections 13, 18, 23, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Dangiwacha police station in Rafiabad. Police have taken the matter seriously and a probe is underway to find the terror link.
