Police caught 2 behind parcel bomb that killed Gujarat man; motive related to extramarital affair

Sabarkantha: In a major development, the police have caught two people in connection with the explosion from a speaker in Vadali taluka on Thursday, which resulted in the death of a man and his daughter while two other girls were injured in the incident. One of the detained people allegedly suspected his wife of having an affair with the deceased, Jitendra Vanjara.

According to the information about the case, at around 12:30 pm, an autorickshaw driver delivered a package to Jeetu’s house. The explosion occurred when Jeetu along with his daughters Bhumika and Chhaya and neighbor girl Shilpa (14) started opening the parcel. Jeetu and Bhumika were declared dead on arrival at the community health center in Wadali, while Chhaya and Shilpa were shifted to the civil hospital in Himmatnagar for treatment. The condition of one of the injured girls is critical, who is currently on ventilator.

Later, investigations unearthed that Jitu was involved in an extramarital affair with a woman from a nearby village. The woman’s husband, who worked in a mining company, allegedly obtained ammonium nitrate and rigged a speaker with it, leading to the fatal explosion. The police have detained the woman’s husband and the autorickshaw driver involved in delivering the package. Charges are being prepared against both suspects.

Gandhinagar forensics and Gujarat ATS officials investigated the crime scene. The occurrence , which happened just a day after PM Modi’s rally, prompted the dispatch of a National Security Guard team.
