Jashanpreet Singh, alias Jashan, and Harjit Singh were apprehended by a police team from Khalra on Saturday. Contrary to initial speculations, investigations revealed no familial or historical ties between the accused and MLA Sarvan Singh Dhun.

Sarpanch Saraj Singh of Dhun village explained that Jashanpreet is the son of Davinder Singh, and although his grandfather Karam Singh and the MLA’s father, Maluk Singh, were brothers, the two families have been living separately for the past 40 years. The sarpanch emphasized that there is no existing connection between MLA Dhun and Jashanpreet or his family.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashwani Kapur stated, “Jashan was interrogated, and he admitted that his family and he had no links with the MLA. We have verified from the villagers, and the MLA is not in touch with the accused’s family for five decades.”

MLA Sarvan Singh Dhun affirmed that he has no association with Jashan and his family members. He highlighted the commitment of the AAP to uphold the law, stating, “Every person who is involved in illegal activity should be dealt with according to the law. We are not like the other political parties who protect their relatives. We have given clear-cut instructions to the police to take strict action against all those involved in drug smuggling.”
