Kolkata: Police have detained Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Suvendu Adhikari and State General Secretary of the party Locket Chatterjee while both were on their way to take part in the Nabanna March. They were detained in Alipore. Apart from these two another BJP leader, Rahul Sinha, was also detained.
Reports of brawls are also being reported as Bengal BJP workers clashed with police during a protest march against the TMC government.
The BJP has organised the protest march against the alleged corrupt practices of the TMC government.
Hundreds of BJP workers were attempting to arrive in Kolkata via trains from various parts of the state to join the BJP’s “Nabanna March,” but the state police stepped up law and order and barricaded the way to railway stations.
The political tussle between the saffron party and Mamata Banerjee’s TMC has reached its pinnacle. The relationship between both factions is on the knife edge.
It seems the BJP wants to get public support in West Bengal after the debacle of the state assembly polls. The TMC is not far behind in bringing out the weak points of the BJP. The general public is the real loser in the political tussle between these two parties.
