Lucknow: The police has got a big success in the Kanpur violence case. The main accused in the violence, Zafar Hayat Hashmi, has been arrested by the STF from Lucknow. Zafar is alleged to have put up provocative posters before the violence. In this case, the police have arrested more than 35 people so far, as well as more than 500 people have been named. Three FIRs have been registered in this case.
It has been told that Zafar Hayat had appealed for a bandh regarding the visit of PM Modi and President Kovind, along with posters were also put up. After which a crowd of people gathered and violence started spreading. However, the family has denied all the allegations. The family said that in the presence of the police, Hayat had announced to withdraw his statement. The bandh appealed for was withdrawn. The family says that Zafar Hayat has been framed. The police did not discharge their responsibility properly.
Regarding this matter, the police had told that, during a discussion in a recent program on TV on behalf of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma, on Friday, in protest against the allegedly made objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad. Clashes broke out in Parade, Nai Sadak and Yatimkhana areas when members of a community tried to forcibly close shops after Friday prayers. At least 40 people, including police personnel, were injured in these clashes.
