Kolhapur: In a bizarre incident, the bodies of nine individuals have been found by police in two houses in Mhaisal town in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, situated over 350 km from the capital Mumbai.
Two brothers, Manik and Popat, used to live in their respective houses with their families separately. Unfortunately, both were found dead among the deceased.
“Nine bodies were recovered from a house. “Three bodies were found at one place, while six were found at other different places in the house,” Sangli Superintendent of Police Dikshit Gedam said.
When asked whether it was a suicide, he said police were on the spot and trying to find out the cause of the death.
However, another police officer suspected that it may have been a case of suicide. However, the exact cause of death has not been known. Police are investigating the matter. Consumption of poison can’t be ruled out.
Manik, the elder brother, was a veterinary doctor by profession. In his house, the bodies of his mother, wife, and two children have been recovered. While in Popat’s house, the bodies of his wife and two children were found.
The town of Mhaisal, in Miral tehsil of Sangli district, hit the headlines in 2017 when the police recovered 19 foetuses of females deserted next to the wastewater stream while they were investigating a case of the death of a pregnant woman.
